The course

Listening and Speaking
Asking for information and giving information in various contexts; Requesting and responding to requests; Apologising and accepting apologies; Expressing opinions, agreeing and disagreeing; Making and responding to complaints; Making and responding to suggestions; Presenting an argument.
All the above functions of the language will be practised in formal and informal contexts, making presentations, debating, and participating in group discussions.
Vocabulary
Understanding different aspects of a word learning, various strategies to develop vocabulary in the academic context; using a dictionary for developing vocabulary.

Grammar and Writing
Writing short paragraphs with the help of topic sentences; use of cohesive devices; writing narratives of minimum three paragraphs; developing information transfer skills; summarising and paraphrasing; note-taking, note- making; writing short reviews; writing short reports with appropriate use of punctuation; use of tenses; subject verb concord; prepositions; use of connectives. An awareness of common errors will be developed.
